I'm still working on the Legacy Quilt. Seems a few of our quilters decided to make more than the ones we were expecting and so...we have had to add another row which meant we were short a few blocks. I was asked where this quilt will end up.  This project is being presented as a gift to our town.  For the first while, it will hang in our new Community Cultural Centre lobby.  Our town hall is being renovated, starting late July with a completion date of January 2012.  At that time, the quilt may be relocated to Town Hall.  I will definitely post photos once we get it finished.

Yesterday was a wash out for me...seemed like I was constantly struggling to get things done, there was no flow to my day. This morning I learned that my dear uncle passed away earlier today.  Although he was my mother's baby brother he was more like a cousin to us because he was only ~ 18 months older than my big sister.  He leaves behind his dear wife, one daughter, stepchildren and a sister.  Steven was predeceased by his youngest daughter who died in a car accident 5 years ago. I'm not sure which is my case but I'm finding it harder to thread my needle these days and oh how I love using my new stand.  I found that as I stitched and I got tired, I was having more and more trouble getting the thread through the eye of the needle.  At times it seemed the eye shrunk! I think the magic comes from the fabric...I bought some commercially available "hand" dyed fabric in 2 contrasting colours. The yellow has fuchsia and oranges and the green is tone on tone but with lots of "texture".The 24.5" finished block began as 4 - 16" squares...2 of each colour. I whipped this up using Ricky Tims' step by step instructions. It couldn't have been an easier project. I have yet to do some borders. I think I'll start with a 1/4" black strip to stop the pattern and then do 2 adjacent sides in the orange and the other 2 in the green.I wish I owned this book...I've had it signed out from the library for a month now...kept renewing it as I read it over & over

After a full 12 hour drive this is a sample of what we were treated to as we drove into our daughter's neighbourhood.  Every house was beautifully landscaped.  The lawns were green and lush and the magnolia's were just coming into full bloom - it was spectacular. I received word this morning that the recipient of the BB quilt passed away through the night.  I'm glad she had such a beautiful last day...it felt like spring.  We'll re-visit the project after emotions settle.  It is my hope that it become a memory quilt which can be donated to a worthy cause.  She would have wanted that. The kitchen cupboards are all painted and reloaded.  I did purge more stuff and am so happy to have empty space in some of my cupboards!  We decided on round ceramic white knobs and they look wonderful.  It's taking a bit of time to remember we now have pulls where none existed before. I'm washing and ironing the other set of curtains to go up this afternoon as soon as I get the windows washed.

The cupboards are almost done.  I had to pick a litre more to finish the small cupboards over the frig and the pantry.  I will also have to pick up more peel & stick floor tiles.  I'm relining the bottom of the lower cupboards.  Heavy items like pots, appliances etc slide in & out so much better and the tiles are durable and so easy to wipe clean.  I make the know decision...we bought white round

I'm painting our kitchen cupboard a beautiful pure white...which looks great even on a cloudy winter's day.  I want to add some pizazz once I'm done in the way of pulls or knobs.  These cupboards have never had any hardware, there was simply a curved cut inside the bottom edge of the doors for a hand to pull it open. Should I stick with all pulls, even on drawers & doors? I don't like the idea
