I have a dilema!

My quilting group is working on a sampler with 12" blocks. I don't have anywhere to put this size wall hanging...that's what was decided...so I'm planning on making my smaller.

I would like to make 6" blocks which would fit in my home. So how do I go about shrinking the patterns? Just half the dimensions? Would the seam allowance stay at 1/4"?

I'm sure I could figure this out if my mind wasn't racing with other stuff. I have a huge opportunity this weekend to meet someone I've admired for a long time...what do I wear, what do I say...I hope I remember to bring my camera, with batteries recharged! I hope the weather & roads co-operate...the list goes on and on and on!
