December is here!

And I'm not ready!   Oh dear...I better strap on my running shoes and get my motor racing! Today is the first day of a family The Biggest Loser style weight loss challenge.  Looking forward to what may be!

The weekend was wonderful.   Joe only had a stiff side from his spill.  It drive probably contributed to this.  He felt so much better Saturday with more on his feet and moving about.   We went and seen the grandkids do their karate tournament.  Both broke boards.  Alex split his with a hammer fist, which JT also used to his first break.  Then because of a 3 way tie, they upped the size of the board and added a barricade they had to jump over and before they landed side kick the board.  I was so proud when JT was the only one to accomplish this!

Sunday we came home via a craft show 90 minutes form the house.  Friends had a craft booth and they were showing some amazing items.  I put in a special order for a little something for the house.   More details when I get it!

Yesterday we got our new frig delivered.   I love it but it's taking some time to figure out the best place to store what.   That'll come with use and time.

Tonight we have our SIL visiting us.   This is Jeff's first road trip since the BC move.   Hopefully he'll have room to take a few gifts home with him and save me the postage.

Picked up my stitching

I did about an hour of back stitching today. It'll take a while to fill the holes in my day...but this felt good. I spoke with my 3 yr old grandson, he's excited about coming up for a visit next weekend...wants to play Play-Do with me....so I'll get started on his quilt again...this will be a happy diversion!

Quick update

Just need to do the back stitching on Moonlit Cabin! Today is overcast so I hope tomorrow will be bright...hard to see those little holes with all those stitches!

Shower project done...just need to post some pics.

Gardening...I filled 2 trays of 8 9-cell packs with seed starting medium. Will be planting tonight. I set up my indoor green house yesterday, but one of the zipper closures isn't working so I have to get a replacement put in. Because I don't want to sew on the plastic greenhouse cover, I will just stitch the new zip on the fabric tape of the old zip. It'll be looser but at least there won't be a bunch of new holes made.

Did some other mundane household things like laundry, errands, pay bills, organize more T4's we received today - I have 3 tax forms to file...mine, DH's and my Dad's - I'm Trustee.

Time flies when you're having fun!

I've stepped away from stitching these past few days. DH has an away trip for work this weekend and didn't his zipper on his work vest break! So yesterday my priority was to get that replaced. I never thought to check my sewing thread before I headed out to buy the replacement zip...I'll just say if I had to re-do a longer one, I would have run out! Whew! That was just too colse for my comfort!

And since I was in the sewing mode, I worked more on a project for an upcoming wedding shower...those fabric bags with the homemade iron on transfers. Some turned out better than others, so out of the 24 I printed, I'm happy with 21...I needed 20! I'll post photos once they are all done...looking for some rafia to tie them up now.

My mission this weekend...seeing I'm flying solo... is to sort through my threads and find out what I have and don't have! I've cut some dowelling to fit my pegboard, so now to sand the ends and tap them in...and hopefully I won't have any more thread anxieties!

Another stumbling block

I found the transfer paper required for that bridal shower favour project...got my fabric all cut out ready to go...now it seems the plaid will show through the cotton that gets the reverse label on. So I have to experiment with some interlining...iron on of course! Do I fuse first, then do the transfer or transfer then fuse...stay tuned...I will psot photos once I get this figured out. In the man time, I'm dragging DH off to The Running Room to get evaluated and sized for some proper shoes before he begins his new exercise regime.

My afternoon project

I finally did figure out how to reverse my text...there is a button on the Draw toolbox...says Flip Horizontal...that's the Cadbury secret! So I have it saved, just waiting to go into town later this week for the transfer sheets.

DH installed some awesome shelves over my sewing work table 10 days ago, and I've been trying to get things sorted/purged and projects moving.

I have my sewing craft books on the top shelf...out of reach but I'm short, I have stools just about everywhere! Then I have crafting supplies in the plastic shoe boxes...still waiting to be labeled. Seems I have 4 boxes still empty and may shift things around a bit.

That blue lid box is my idea tickle file...when I see something that intigrues me, I clip it and stick it into a file folder by craft type. On my slow days, I enjoy going through it...sometimes I get inspired, sometimes I just purged a few. My DH's rabbit keeps me company and I ususally have a scented candle going when I'm working for any lentgh of time, along with some of my favorite tunes.





I've been able to check off a bunch of little things and now I'm working on my fabric stash.

I just can't throw anything out...I had made a nice gold bedskirt about 18 months ago, but when we upgraded the bed, it wouldn't fit. So I ripped it apart and made a couple of toss cushion covers.
With the last little bit, I changed the white vanity cover to the gold and like it better.

Disappointment & possible success!

I volunteered to help my daughter make these muslin loot bags for an upcoming bridal shower. She got the idea from a book, I read the directions over over, took a photocopy and thought...too easy!

Wrong! The book says you can simply tape a piece of muslin to card stock and run it through the computer printer with the personalized label I spent an hour creating. Well, the draft copy on paper looked good so I loaded up the prepared card stock...and it came out smeared! OK...did more research online and found the idea of ironing the fabric to freezer paper and running it through that way.

Worse news...I had to dig out the printer manual to figure out how to remove this fabric jam! eventually got it out, did another test print to make sure I didn't damage the machine...looks OK.

So now I have decided I will trek into civilization and buy some fabric transfer paper at my local fabric shop. That should print OK...now to figure out how to reverse my text so when I iron it on, it reads the right way.
