Canada is too big sometimes!

I just started to reconnect this year with some cousins...we moved away and lost touch. But I felt the need to renew this kinship and made the first move by looking up addresses on line and writing a few letters. I outlined who I was, and who I was looking for and eventually, I got a hit.

So we exchanged a few letters, I sent photos etc. But I wasn't ready for my cousin to call to say his Mom, my aunt and godmother was in very failing health. Here was a grown man trying to make sure he had the right phone number while his heart was breaking. I'm not sure if he realizes where I live but I'm half a country away and as much as I wish I could drop everything and go visit.

Seems the older I get the more I appreciate my family and friends!

How wonderful that you are catching up with long lost relatives. Too bad your aunt lives so far away but it is lovely that your cousin took the trouble to reach you. Your contact must have been just as important to him as it is to you.

You sure are busy with painting etc. Are you nearly finished?

I'm so sorry about your aunt. I went through this with my grandmother when she had her strokes. It's heart-achingly amazing the power a simple card, phone call, letters or flowers can hold. Any contact at all makes an impact you'll never regret.

Have fun with your painting.
