Lovely comments help on frustrating days!

Hi Everyone...

I'm still hear but have traded my floss and Aida for 100%, sewing machine and iron.

I'm attempting my first paper pieced quilt block and because I love to be in the hot seat...this is for my MIL's descendant quilt! Yup...I'm just starting on it. Bad me.

However with the exception of this one block the others will go very quickly. The anchor block to represent dear Irene is Debbie's Heart from designer Bobbie Osborne I'm using burgundy reds, deep green, gold and cream. IF I can figure out how to do this. I've made a sample and think I know where my mistakes are coming from...me! lol I'll get back to it after a much needed break!

I now have a moral dilema...who to include in this project. I have children, grandchildren and great grandchildren along with their spouses. Now I have been asked to include someone's adult step children who aren't a blood relative but...still family. I don't want there to be hard feelings but Irene has a huge family...hence why I'm not including her brother or 6 sisters, nieces, nephews etc. This was a last minute surprise from someone late in responding to my emails the past 4 months. I may have to see if I can squeeze in a few more signature blocks.
But everyone knows...I have lots of time, right?????

Hi Berta,
Thanks for the comment on my site, if I may ask, what is the other book that won over The Crafter's Devotional? :)...if it was crafty, it might be of interest ;).

Wow! What an undertaking for your MIL. Is there a specific pattern for this "descendant quilt"? I love paperpiecing and I'm sure that you will soon grow to enjoy it! We tend to waste material when we start but after we get the hang of it...

As for your moral dilemma...I just made a quilt for my MIL and kind of had the same predicament, but with the BIL's and me (SIL)...I didn't want to put our names on the quilt but wanted to include our existence so I used the french names..."Bru" = DILs and "Gendres" = SILs, that took care of my dilemma. You can always make these adult stepchildren smaller blocks or include them on one block....YOU are the designer :)...don't know if I am of any help!

I love your blog!

Oh boy! This sounds like a big project. Is there any other way these people can participate? I can certainly understand there is only so much room on a quilt! Good luck.
