Fertilizer Friday

Yea me...I remembered!!!!

Dec 16 2011
This may not look like much to you but...I'm so pleased I'm giddy.  Last spring I grew geraniums from seed for the very first time and they were wonderful.  This fall I decided to try cuttings again..  In all the years past I've never had any success, they went to mush before anything roots sprouted.  I figured nothing ventured nothing gained.

Well about 2/3 of this year's cuttings rooted and this is the first to start to flower!  Now I need some advice.  Should I let her go and flower to her heart's content or should I pinch it off and encourage more bottom growth? I do plan on repotting all of them from these coffee cups into something bigger in the new year.

Anyways, that's what I have to share today.  Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas.  Hope you are surrounded by all your loved ones.  Travel safe everyone!

Good job, Alberta! I have never grown geraniums from seed or from cuttings. I imagine someone else will be able to answer your question - when you came to Tootsie Time, you came to the right place!

Nice to see something green growing although I still had pansies in my garden this past weekend :o)

Pinching is always hard for me, too.

I don't have the green thumb in our family so can't give any advice. Looks like you are doing your prep work for next spring and thoroughly enjoying yourself.
