I must choose my words more carefully

I never thought that I was the type to send out mixed signals...I take pride in saying what I really think I have some doubts.

I was talking the other day to someone who's son lives with his father in another province. Communication between the divorced parents is a she was getting some info from the child's school via the principal and primary teacher.

I said that it was unfortunate she wasn't in the position to just pop in and see the situation for herself. I do that with my Dad's nursing home situation and I know lots of parents like to do spot checks on their kids in day care as well.

Well 'Mom' took it wrong and thought I meant that the child was in danger! That was not my intention...I just thought that seeing is can't always go by what he said/she said, especially when you know it was a messy divorce.

We have since talked again and I tried to explain out my thought process and what I had meant...but I'm not sure she gets it. I hope so, she has enough to worry about.

Joy is not in things, it is in us!

If she knows you well, she'll know you never meant it in a bad way. If you've explained that to her, then there's nothing more you can say. Try not to worry about it because I know you didn't mean anything wrong by it :o)
