Betty Boop sidelined

I received word this morning that the recipient of the BB quilt passed away through the night.  I'm glad she had such a beautiful last day...it felt like spring.  We'll re-visit the project after emotions settle.  It is my hope that it become a memory quilt which can be donated to a worthy cause.  She would have wanted that. In the meantime my sincest condolences go out to her family and friends.

So I felt the need to occupy my brain today.  I didn't sleep well last night after seeing Shutter Island with DH's co-workers.  So I pulled out my ...gasp...CROSS STITCHING and sat in the sun and tried a few stitches.  I did well until the froggies came for a little visit!  I think they must have missed me. I'm excited the be making these small / & \ ..it's amazing how they all go together and form something wonderful.

My seedlings are doing well, except for my Healthy Kick tomatoes.  Not a single sprout.  I may have planted them too deep...but the other tomatoes seem to have germinated fine...or I have  dud batch.  I'll re-seed and if after 10 days I don't see anything, I'll re-purchase another type.

This week we'll be researching how to repair a hot tub shell.  Last week I uncovered it to check and found a huge chip on the outside edge but worse yet...a crack going over the top edge towards the body of the unit.  I pulled out the warranty and found that the shell only carries a 5 year consumer protection.  I checked other brands and they too only offer 5 years, so no matter which unit we had, we'd be in the same situation after 11 seasons.  We'll be checking under the unit to see if the ground had eroded causing a sag or whatever.  It didn't appear to heave from the frost.  If the worse case scenario happens, we'll look at the bright side, knowing a new unit will be more energy efficient.  It is what it is.

Well must run, and get dinner organized.  I'm cooking ribs and a pan of cornbread!  Yum!
