I step forward and 2 back

That seems to be my world of late! Don't get me wrong, I'm not having a pity party for 1. Things have evolved for want of a better word. The garden is suffering from a lack of rain. We got some last night but no where near the amount we need. In the southern parts of the province they have had torrential rains causing the rivers to swell and overflow into my tows and farms. The photos on the television news are no where as telling as those being uploaded to Youtube.

DH was home last week and we managed to rip down the old fence along the back and replace it with a lovely 6 foot new improved version. We tightened up the gap for more privacy and kept the top edge straight. It stands out beside the others with the graceful dip, but I love how it envelopes the yard into a more private oasis. Now to get the job of re-staining done.

We said goodbye to our dear dog Cody who was about 17 years old. She had been with us since 1995...it was a sad day but one that we knew would soon be upon us. The house is quiet without her...she was my constant companion - on road trips, puttering around in the garden or just relaxing with a good book on the front porch. Romy had realized that something is different and has been showing me more attention that usual...what a thoughtful cat!

My stitching project has taken another backseat to some pressing family issues. I won't go into details but it's mentally exhausting some days. Each morning I say to myself "Today we will get some answers" and most nights I admit that I'm no further ahead.
But this is my life and my days belong to me to make of them what I can. I try my best to work through the issues and still have some fun along the way. Speaking of fun...I have lots of blogs to catch up on, so if you will excuse me...I'll post this and get to it!

I'm really sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. I truly believe that losing a pet is equal to losing a loved one. Especially a pet that has been your friend for 17 years.

I would love to see some pictures of your fence once you get it stained.

I hope you're feeling better soon. My thoughts are with you.

Berta, I'm SO sorry to hear about the loss of Cody. It's never easy, no matter that he was 17.

I'm not sure what you're going through but know there are many hugs here for you :o)
