Awesome Thanksgiving

We went south for the weekend, stayed at HL & J's place, where we painted the nursery walls a cheery buttery yellow. I didn't get time to paint the trim but that's a great reason for a return visit in the near future! As if I need a reason! HL is feeling good, but getting tired as the pregnancy progresses.

The boys built the baby furniture Saturday and we couldn't be happier with it, the warm oak looks great against the yellow walls. HL helped select fabric for curtains and a crib skirt. I will make those up prior to my return visit. We are getting so excited!

Thanksgiving dinner was at L & A's. Their boys J & A helped set the 2 tables for the 13 of us. We feasted on turkey, ham and cabbage rolls along with the usual trimmings! Dessert was a real treat. I had baked some carrot cakes and brought those down and L made her famous chocolate fountain with fruit chunks! To say we were stuffed after that is an understatement.

Reflecting back over the past year, we are so very grateful for a healthy close knit family that supports one another through the good & not so good. As Marlene Dietrich said..."It is the friends you can call up at 4 am that matter". And this family is definitely friends!

Thanks for stopping by my blog Berta! I can feel your excitement about becoming a grandmother. The sweater set will be adorable and a very nice idea.

Hopefully your wrists will feel better soon. I struggle with carpal tunnel myself so I know how frustrating it can be when you want to work away, but just can't.

Well, it's comforting to know that I'm not alone with carpal tunnel problems! Karen, I appreciate your thoughts. Some days are better than others and I think this afternoon will be a good one!

Hi Berta~
Sounds like you had a wonderful (and very deliciously filling) Thanksgiving dinner!

I love the baby sweater you are making...in fact its the same pattern of one that a wonderful aunt-in-law made for each of my kids. I never did find the pattern, can you tell me what its called, or what book its in, so I can try to find it? (stusami23@gmail.com)

I can commiserate with the carpal tunnel - I ended up with surgery for it myself.

Congratulations on the upcoming arrival in your family :-D

Wendy, you should receive the instructions via email shortly. I couldn't find a date on the book but it only cost 65 cents if that's any indication of how old the pattern is. It really was a joy to knit. Now to finish the second bootie.
