February already!

***February has gotten off to a lousy start...just found out that a family friend has died at age 44...I feel so off balance right now...a good cry, a workout and I should be able to get back on track. I posted details on my family blog Lil Salmon HouseTake care!

January seem to fly by before my very eyes! Wow...!

With the new month comes seed starting...got to get those tomatoes started as soon as I dig out the greenhouse doors! Despite the optimism of the weather gurus, we are not warming up!

I have lots of financial issues to address. We have an extra day to buy RRSP's to lower our tax basis. But first I have some pension splitting scenarios to run through...lots of scratch paper, fully powered calculator and unplug the phone! This could get ugly!

I'm still awaiting the court decision to pass Dad's financial records and extend my role as Trustee...we are fast approaching the Feb 8 deadline! Yes these are the records I submitted for review last fall! I have a huge stack of papers to be filed...is this why I detest filing so much????

Training wise, I managed 34.5 miles in January's 31 days...not too shabby...I did take a few days off for fun stuff! This month is 2 days shorter, but I'm still aiming for about the same distance or better. I did a test 5 km yesterday to see how my pace is coming along. I managed it in 56 minutes despite having to crank the sped up in the last 90 seconds to get across the finish line! I can't remember the last time I breathed that hard! But what a great feeling of accomplishment. Thank you Pumpkin for your support on me in Team Crockett...I'm going for a personal best in June's Uncover the Cure: the Underwear Affair! And your name will be on the team t-shirts as a sponsor! Woot woot!

The days are getting longer and stitching on Frederick is getting easier...but still I had a visit from those darn frogs! I have yet to address the issue...pout! Here's my progress to date...not as far along as I would want to be but I'm still having fun.

I did go shopping when Michaels had their DMC sale...I was a very bad girl! Look at what I have to sort through as soon as possible! Looks like DH will be on the road to help out with the chaos in the oil field. The bitter cold has caused lots of projects to go sideways. Between equipment breaking down and people feeling cold and frustrated...some help is needed. So after my quilting meeting tomorrow, maybe I'll pop a chick flick on and start winding all those pretty colours!

I managed one finish which I haven't posted much about because...I still haven't packaged it up and gotten it into the mail! Some days I don't know where my head is. My most recent excuse is my car keeps freezing up and it takes soooo long to get it thawed out. I just can't seem to keep warm these days. I'm going to try harder this month.

Hope your January was as satisfying as mine and let's get ready for the month for lovers of all shapes & sizes & ages!

Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, Berta. My heart goes out to her family at such a tragic time.

But I'm so thrilled to hear about your training success! That's a huge number of miles/km to go!! Great work :-D

What an information packed post! Sorry to hear about your friend, it isn't easy losing someone close but so young makes it all the harder.
I'm so proud of you and your walking goals, you have inspired me to start doing something the same, of course with kids in tow I don't think I will manage as far as you but I'm going to start going at least every other day to do something, build a snowman, walk, sled...roll the kids down the hill - something!
Fred is coming along slowly but surely, just like my wolves, stay tuned, I hope to post an update on them in the near future.
Stay warm!

Fred is looking awesome girl! You really have made good progress :o)

I'm SO excited that my name will be on your shirts :o) WOW! I'm blushing but very proud to help out.

You're doing a great job on your fitness. How I wish I could do something like that. I guess I'll have to stick to walking whenever the snow melts. That's my excuse right now ;o)

I'm SO sorry to hear about the loss of the family friend :o( To tell you the truth, I HATE February but I've been trying to change that. ((((HUGS))))

So sorry about the death of your friend. {{hugs}}.

Frederick is looking marvelous! Yesterday, I took mine in to get a backing board so that I can lace him at home.

Congratulations to you for your training program. What an achievement!
