Weighing in


On myself! While not actively trying to lose weight I have been trying not to put on over the summer. Food that is fresh picked tastes so much better and who can eat corn without butter?! Not me! I was happy to find that I was only up 1 pound from our houseboat trip. But I shouldn't have been surprised...except for eating out while traveling to BC and back we ate what we brought. Lesley and I put together a menu based on everyone's likes and dislikes and it worked brilliantly. We had steaks, chicken breasts, salads, spaghetti, burrito, pancakes and bacon, soup & grilled cheese and of course hot dogs...the kids favorites! We used our power cooler which kept all the meats frozen and put the fresh veggies and fruit into the other cooler chest. I think we only brought 1 canned item...kernel corn in case that's what the fish were attracted to. They however liked the marshmallow type bait so we ate the corn! We had very little in the way of waste and trash afterwards. Hey, we even recycled our broken down cardboard and all our water/pop bottles.

I digress...

I'm back on the treadmill, doing 30 minutes at ~70% heart rate. I have never been a strong runner and certainly not after my back injury. I was surprised that I could manage a decent jog @ 4 mph and a 4 incline. Not very long but I felt good about it. It's going to be hard not to push myself harder before I'm ready...want to lengthen that 1 burst of energy before upping the intensity or time. I was all hot and sweaty at the end of it...I hope it pushes off those nasty hot flashes/flushes/power surges...whatever you call them. They are beginning to annoy me!


Other than that, things are wonderful!

Congrats to you on getting healthy. I figure as long as I'm sweating while exercising, I'm doing good! Go, go, go!

Great that you are getting back into workouts. I have finally started back to exercising(by myself) as we live too far away from gyms.

It sounds as if you had plenty of food to eat - I know my mouth was watering.

Good for you, taking the time to take care of yourself. It's not the easiest thing to do, yet so very rewarding.

1 pound is not bad at all. It is good to hear that you take care of yourself. So many people do not.
