Legacy Quilt block

Please excuse the off colour of the photo...I cheated and used my phone camera ...have to find my digital camera...took some garden shots and put it down somewhere...but this is my rendition of our local grain elevator that was torn down in 2002.  I had wanted to paper piece the block but after 6 false starts, I decided to go with applique, which was fun to do. I am though still challenging myself with a complex for my next block.  There are 21 sections with subsections of anywhere from 1 - 6 pieces.  I think I  may go cross eyed before this is done! I touched base with all the quilters I brought into the project and everyone is still enthusiastic about their block.  Some have had challenges with their designs but that gives them the chance to be as creative as they want.

Hope the heat isn't as bad as the weather forecasters were predicting for most of the country.  Here, it's a modest 21° C with a little breeze but thousands of mosquitoes about!

What a great idea to immortalize the grain elevator! It looks fantastic. I admire your patience, I don't think I could ever make a quilt...too many calculations for me!! LOL
Have a great day!
